The 5th Grade Committee is responsible for working closely with the 5th Grade teachers, the Principal, the art and music teachers, to plan and organize the special 5th Grade events. It is also their responsibility to raise enough money to fund these events and manage the available budget.

Moving to the 5 person model will allow the 5 Chair members to organize the events as they see fit and to open up the volunteers for the events so that more parents will be able to attend the different festivities.

The 5th Grade Committee is also responsible for filling out Facility Request forms at: http://www.rtnj.portal.rschooltoday.com/  for all of these events, as well as booking the photographer and DJ in advance. **Photographer to attend these events

The photographer also attends 5th Grade Field Day. He will then create a DVD for each child to be picked up from the school in July. This will be filled with all the memories from the year. The same DJ has been used for the Dance and the Pool Party.

Below are the events held by the 5th grade committee, as well as tentative dates for the 2015/2016 school year:

  • Coordinate vendor for inflatables.
  • Order food, plan games, send invitations, collect money, keep track of registration.
  • All 5th Grade parents and students are asked to volunteer that day to run the picnic for the school.

Send letters to 5th Grade families, requesting a $50 donation per family. List all of the activities that the 5th Grade Committee sponsors. This letter also requests each student’s T-shirt size.

  • Work with Yearbook Chair to vote on a yearbook cover, which is typically the theme for the class. That logo is then been used as the T-shirt design.
  • You will also need to coordinate with all 5th Grade teachers to get student signatures for the back of the T-shirt.
  • Work with T-shirt vendor, and include all 5th Grade teachers, aides, specials teachers, and 5th Grade Committee when ordering shirts. Order extra in case of loss, or new students.

  • Confirm photographer.
  • Organize games for kids to play. Note: Each game is broken down by classes. There are suggested games within the binder.
  • Purchase nurse-approved snacks and water as refreshments for the kids.
  • Manage volunteer schedule. You need at least 3 adults per class, as well as some for a registration table, bathroom, and door check.

  • Work closely with art teachers who will break each class up into 3 groups. These groups will each produce a piece of artwork to be auctioned off. (Total of 15 pieces)
  • Create/Proof program, purchasing foam core board for teachers to mount the artwork.
  • Send out a letter for families to pre-order pizza.
  • Request donations for desserts to sell.
  • Make sure students write a poem about their artwork.
  • Make sure at least one student from each group is attending the art show to read the poem.
  • Secure an auctioneer and organize volunteers.
  • Set-Up and Clean-Up
  • You need the following: 2 auction cashiers, dessert sales, beverage station, check in table, pizza sales.

Note: This event helps to bring in extra money to get thru the rest of the events. If not enough money raised you can ask 4th graders to attend dance for a fee.
